In this post, I will be discussing the Apple Software, as I did for Android in my previous post.
Apple
As I have mentioned in my previous post, Apple phones, the iPhone, are the most used phones by teenagers, sitting at 67 percent of all teenagers own iPhones. Now, I have been asking myself the same question since I was fourteen, when I was getting ready to get my first phone (going into grade 9); WHY?? Why were iPhones so popular, and why were they so expensive? This string of questions and others like it is often asked personally by a lot of people, both Apple and Android users. After taking a poll, I found that the statistic of 67 percent of people own iPhones is statistically correct. Roughly 19 people in a class of 28 people own iPhones; however, I was constantly told that in fact some of the iPhone owners did not like using their iPhone and would prefer an Android, and vice versa. Android owners who have never had an iPhone would do anything to get an iPhone, including getting a used phone, a very old model, roughly 4-5 generations old, and using iPhones as iPods until they can afford a service plan, because they had bought an iPhone and can't afford a plan at that moment. Therefore, the question is compelling; Why are iPhones so popular, and what advantages do they posses to justify their prices? I will try to explain the Apple software to you, as the reader, to the best of my abilities.
The newest Apple software update is the iOS 9.3,1, for iPhones generation 4s or later, for iPods generations 5 and 6, for iPad generation 2 and later, for all iPad minis and for the iPad pro. The new update comes with some new great features that simplify the functionality of the products mentioned above. Apple has one leg up on Android on software. They have some amazing new features with the latest phones that Android simply cannot match, such as Night Shift, a tool that uses your iOS clocks and your Geolocation to determine when sunset and sunrise is, when is completely converts the entire display of your iOS device's display to warmer colours so you can get a better sleep. Also, you can now secure your notes with the fingerprint ID scanner in your iPhone. There are many different and cool apps like Apple Carplay, Health, etc. and more cool features, like 3D touch. These new features really give Apple products an advantage over Android products. Now, why doesn't Android have these features? Android is spread out through many different types of products, making it harder to implement this kind of technology into their products.
One last great feature is Siri, the voice activated searching tool. Although is falls short from Google's Google Now, it is a handy little tool. It does, however, have some fun features that Google Now doesn't. Siri allows you to ask it any bizarre questions you may have, and it will give you an answer, no matter whether you're just goofing around, or you want a serious answer.
Now, this sounds great and fantastic, but there are some drawbacks that I feel helps Android catch up. Although Apple products are great for social network, it faults in web searches. Apple products use Safari as their default browser, and I find safari sometimes a little frustrating and quirky to use. I often can't find the information that I want, and usually end up giving up trying to use safari and use Google. Additionally, because Apple is more socially oriented, it does lack in productivity functionalities, where Android thrives. If you are making a quick search, you won't have any trouble. However for projects that require attention in depth, you may run into some trouble if using a mobile device (this is speaking by using small and portable devices, not iMacs). Also, If you don't like your apps all on one screen, iPhones aren't for you. iPhones and all Apple products only have one screen, the home screen, and all of your apps are there, there is no designated apps screen that contains all of your apps on a separate page, like Android's. Furthermore, there is a recurrence of apps that tend to "lag" when opened. this problem naturally occurs in all electronic devices, but after surveying a group of people, I can conclude that Apple products seem to lag a bit more.
All in all, I do believe that the Apple products are great products. Although they are quite pricy, and they do have their drawbacks, I feel that its user-friendly compatibility and all of its great features make up for it in the long run if you're looking for a phone for easy use and cyber-social interaction.

This diagram shows the Apple iPhones VS. The Samsung Galaxy, the most popular Android Phones.
As you can see, Samsung Phones are quite pricy as well, sitting at only $50 cheaper than the closest Apple model. However, Samsung phones offer more features than Apple in some perspectives. Lest we forget that there are multiple Android phones that can be bought for much cheaper prices.

There are some great and useful tools that Apple products offer, as well. For example, Apple products allow you to respond to texts right from your lock screen, simply swipe, and from any screen that the user would currently be on. Also, the Apple products all come with the infamous control panel at the very bottom of the screen that you can access by swiping up from the bottom of the screen. These are just a few of the great features that allow ease of use to all users that make Apple products the must-buy for people that just want a phone that's easy to use.
Now, socially, iPhones are by far much more useful than Android phones. Why?? Apple products connect with each other. I don't mean that if you have an Apple product it'll grant you access to someone else's, but what I mean is Apple has multiple apps that allow fellow Apple owners to connect with each other. For instance, there is FaceTime, a video chat app only used in Apple products, iMessage, an app that universally allows ALL Apple owners (yes, including non-cell phone serviced products such as iPods and iPads) to send text messages and media to each other. This keeps Apple owners feel more connected than Android owners, who don't have these types of options, although there are video chatting apps like Skype and you can text just about anybody, the connectivity between devices is more distant.
Another advantage, Apple is a closed source software, which means iOS is only available for Apple devices. This is great, because upon research, I found that Apple knows every single part of the software. This means that Apple can, and already has, perfect their software. This is superior to Android's open source software, because it allows Apple to fix glitches and perform updates with ease and quickness.
